Ongoing projects

Climate Adaptation in Public Management (PuMaK)

As part of the project "Integration of climate adaptation and climate change into public management education at universities" (PuMaK), Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is developing educational modules on climate change and climate adaptation for generalists in public administration. Regardless of whether they work as climate adaptation managers or in other areas of public administration, students are trained over five semesters to address the challenges of climate change. At the same time, the project will produce stand-alone modules and study letters that can also be used in other contexts.

Epistemology in Art, Science, Technology (EpisTeaM)

The EpisTeaM project was developed as part of a collaboration within the European Culture and Technology Lab (ECTLab+). The aim is to investigate the impact of digital technologies on the construction of knowledge and truth, taking into account artistic, humanities and social science approaches. Funding from the HORIZON MSCA Staff Exchanges program will establish a collaborative and intersectional network of seven academic and five non-academic institutions. Through transdisciplinary research at the intersection of art, science and technology, the thesis that the diversification of epistemological positions could be the key to responsible epistemology in technical education and innovation will be investigated. It challenges the increasing land grab by globalized computational models in which reason itself is reduced to calculation and probability.

Eco-Social Policy and Practice for Innovation and Transformation (ESPPRIT)

The project Eco-Social Policy and Practice for Innovation and Transformation (ESPPRIT) was funded by the Regional Studies Association (RSA) under the leadership of Astrid Krisch (Kellogg College, University of Oxford), Lucas Barning (Institute for Spatial Planning, TU Vienna) and Sarah Ware (Institute for Multi-Level Governance and Development, WU Vienna).

The overarching aim of the network is to promote interdisciplinary discussions with researchers from the fields of urban and regional planning, economic geography, regional science and political science with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the geographical dimension of eco-social transformations, particularly in relation to concepts of the foundational economy, post-growth planning, sustainability transformation, sustainable welfare and multi-level governance. Questions of justice are taken into account as well as conceptual, methodological and empirical dimensions of eco-social transformations.
